Final EPRD Summer Trail Race Benefits Special Needs Program

Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) wraps up its 2012 Summer Trail Race Series on Saturday, Oct. 6, with a family friendly pair of races that benefit EPRD’s Special Needs programs.

The two races – a 10-mile out-and-back course and a 2-mile family-friendly Fun Run/Walk – start at 9 a.m. at Lair O' the Bear Park in Idledale. Runners are encouraged to arrive at least half an hour early.

10-Mile Race

Runners will face a steady ascent to the top of Lair O' the Bear Park and, upon arriving at the end of Bear Creek Trail, they will turn and run back to the finish line where they began.  Registration is $30 in advance / $35 race day.

Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female, as well as to the winner and runner-up for men and women in the following age divisions: Under 20; 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+.

2-mile Fun Run/Walk

This family friendly 2-mile course will treat runners to a taste of the Rockies. Run/Walkers will follow a trail that is surrounded by mountains and that runs beside a flowing stream. Registration is $20 in advance / $25 race day.

About Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD)

The Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) was formed in 1969 to serve the park and recreation needs of the communities of Evergreen, Bergen Park, Indian Hills, Kittredge and Marshdale. The citizens of the EPRD area place high value in their parks, recreation facilities and programs as an enhancement to the community's quality of life. This commitment is embodied in the District's strong parks and recreation system, with its unique facilities such as Buchanan Park, Buchanan Park Recreation Center, Evergreen Lake House, and Wulf Recreation Center.

EPRD serves approximately 22,000 people residing within its boundaries, covering 50,000 acres (78 square miles) in the foothills west of Denver. The District also offers affordable recreational options to non-district residents. Learn more at www.evergreenrecreation.com
