SUMMARY:Alpine Native Plant Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Native Plant Master Dina Baker for a slow walk atop the alpine tundra. We will be exploring the alpine tundra at Square Top Mountain and searching for the high elevation botanic treasures who reside there. We will observe and discuss the alpine ecosystem along with the native plant life within it. Although each year is different in the alpine\, there is a great diversity of native plants that thrive in this short growing season and harsh environment. We hope to find queen's crown\, 4-5 species of gentians\, old man of the mountain\, elephant heads\, a variety of paintbrush species\, wooly thistle\, moss campion and more! This will be a slow meander through the alpine with some standing and bending over due to the low-growing nature of these native gems.\n\nAll levels of botanists and plant enthusiasts are welcome. We invite everyone with an interest in native plants to join our walks and share their knowledge and/or enthusiasm with the group.\n\nDue to risks associated with COVID-19\, we will be implementing social distancing\, wearing masks and limiting our group size to 9 participants. So sign up early!
